About the guides
Who writes the guides?
The HostPro Academy team, the people behind the training programme of the same name. Every guide lists its sources and the date we last checked them, so you can check what we checked.
Is this legal or tax advice?
No. The guides explain how the rules work and link to the official source, but your situation depends on your city, your building and your contracts. For a decision with legal or tax consequences, ask a lawyer or an accountant in your country.
How up to date are the guides?
Every guide shows the date we last checked its facts. Guides on fees, rules and tax are checked every quarter and whenever a known change date passes, such as Airbnb’s fee change for European hosts on 13 October 2026.
Are the guides really free?
Yes. No email address, no account. The guides are written by the team behind HostPro Academy, a paid programme, and each guide ends with a short note about it. That note is the only place a guide mentions the academy.
I found a mistake. Where do I report it?
Email info@hostproacademy.com with the guide title and the source that shows the error. We check it, update the guide and change its checked date.
The model
Is this rental arbitrage?
No. In arbitrage you sign a lease, pay rent every month, and carry the loss when the calendar is empty. Here you sign a management agreement. The owner keeps the property and the rent risk, and you’re paid a percentage of what the unit earns. Lower ceiling per unit, far lower downside, and far less capital than renting or buying.
Is this legal in my country?
Helping an owner run a listing is a normal use of Airbnb’s co-host tools, but whether you may manage property for a fee, and which registration, tourist tax and licence rules apply, depends on the country and the city. In Belgium the BIV, the estate agents’ institute, sees property management for private owners as a protected profession, and whether that covers short-term rental management is not settled (what that means for a new co-host). Read our guides to the EU regulation and to the rules in Belgium and the Netherlands, then check the official page of your city before you sign anything.
What if there’s no short-stay demand where I live?
Check real occupancy and rate data first: our guide to revenue projections shows how. If demand is thin, managing in a nearby market is possible, but it adds travel and makes arranging cleaners harder.
Starting out
Do I need to own property or have savings?
You need no property and no deposit. You do need a few thousand euro for company registration, tooling, insurance and the first months of running costs. Anyone telling you that number is zero is selling you something.

I have a full-time job. Does that work?
Owner conversations and guest messages can happen in the evening, and many guest messages can be scheduled. Turnovers are different: they happen on weekdays at check-out time, so arrange a cleaner, or a backup for the days you can’t go yourself, before the first booking.

The academy
Are there prerequisites to join?
No prior experience needed. HostPro Academy is beginner-friendly: to start learning, you need a computer, a phone and the right mindset. To build the business you also need regular time each week and a few thousand euro in starting costs.
What topics does the academy cover?
You start with the model and the right mindset. When you’re ready, we help you find your first client, then cover regulations, contracts and your business structure, including how to split roles as you grow. After that comes getting the listing live, pricing and cleaning, and automating guest communication, damage handling and reviews. Every lesson is listed on the curriculum page.
Are there videos or written materials?
Both. HostPro Academy combines video lessons with downloadable guides, templates, contracts and scripts, plus personal assistance when you need it.
Is there a community?
Yes. All members get access to the private HostPro community, with members across 11 European countries, sorted by market. You can network, share tips, and get advice from peers and experts before you sign an agreement.
How do I enrol in HostPro Academy?
Answer six short questions and book a free 30-minute strategy call with our team, from the How to join section of the academy page. We explain everything and see whether it’s the right fit for you. Enrolment is only offered after that call.
What does HostPro Academy cost?
The guides on this site are free. The academy is a paid programme; the price depends on the level of support, and the team explains it before you join.
Do you offer refunds?
Refund and withdrawal conditions are set out in the terms you agree to when you enrol.
